BTC sericulture adopted Kumguri and Pundibari village "Cleanness Seri- Eco Model Village"

Kokrajhar: The department of Sericulture BTC in association with Axis Bank Kokrajhar Branch has adopted Kumguri and Pundibari Nayekgaonvillage as "Cleanness Seri- Eco Model Village" of BTC with objectives to make awareness about the hygienic , cleanness, healthcare , income generation among the rural populace and promote the said areas as cleanness Seri- Eco Model in BTC.

Robinson Muchahari IAS Additional principal secretary BTC has carried out sanitation drives on 7th September 2019 along with senior scientist from North Eastern Space Application Centre (NESAC), Department of Space, Govt. of India, Umiam, Shillong and Central Silks Board (CSB), Ministry of Textile, Govt. of India from Bengaluru, Guwahati and Lahdoigarh and Galaxy of officials from department of sericulture BTC and local villagers.

Speaking to media, Jogesh Deori director of BTC sericulture said that sericulture department has been doing all-round development to silk eri-silks, etc for women and farmers at Adabari, Haronaguri, Kunguri & Pundubari Nayekgaon in the Kokrajhar district.

He said that three villages have been engaging in eri-silks, rich fauna and flora suitable for the production of all varieties of Silkworms namely Efi, Mulberry and Muga and the department has been providing farming houses.

He said the department has initiated the production of more silk, engaging self-help groups and programme to rear silkworms and plantations, which would help to generate employment for the people in the area.

Director said that the objective of the task is Geo-Tagging of sericulture asserts created under Govt and private sector as well for inclusion in Silks portal –A wed based Geo-Information system for sericulture planning and development.

He said that BTC. accordingly, a Vision Document was prepared by Directorate of Sericulture, BTC & Central Silk Board, that addressed all the gaps and constraints, established backward and forward linkages viz. strengthening & creation of infrastructure, skill up-gradation, Technology up-gradation training and social mobilization, product diversification and Designs development for value addition , market promotion etc.

While, Rabison Muchahari additional principal secretary has inaugurated the Pundibari village and Dr. Vijay Krishna Handique scientist SF, NESAC and Dr V.K Rahmathulla, scientist D, CSB, Bengaluru jointly inaugurated the Kunguri village respectively in present of Dr Jogesh Dueri, Director of Sericulture BTC, Sarat Deori, OSD, BTC and officials of Axis Bank as "cleanness Seri- Eco Model village" of BTC on September 7, 2019. he added.

He said that apart from the above, the scientist from North Eastern Space Application Centre (NESAC), department of space, Govt. of India, Umiam have also inaugurated the Geo-Tagging by demonstrated the same to the officials of the department of sericulture, BTC.

Deori also said that the department organized a workshop in collaboration with Central Silk Board at BTC secretariat conference hall regarding the importance of sericulture in the region.
