Guwahati: The people of the Autonomous Bodoland
Territorial Region (BTR), currently under Governor's Rule on Saturday announced
through an official press release that it will elect their new Chief Executive
member in December.
Bodoland has long suffered from divisive politics and
underwhelming development and was swept away by a wave of hope and optimism
with the expiration of the previous council term on April 27, 2020. The
official release said.
"Over the last 17 years, people in the BTR have waited patiently for a change, unfortunately with no substantial development or improvement in socio-economic status quo, a lot of promises have been left unfilled, leaving a lot to be desired", the statement said.
BTC election is scheduled for 7 and 10 December 2020.
The election would be held in two phases. In the first phase, the election will be held in Udalguri and Baksa districts on December 7, and the date of re-poll, if any, has been scheduled for December 8.
The second phase of the poll will be held in Chirang
and Kokrahajar districts on December 10 and Re-poll, if any would be held on
December 11.
The timing for voting is 7.30 AM to 4.30 PM.
The date of counting the votes will be December
12,(Saturday) from 8 AM.
