JAMUGURIHAT: Basanta Barua (65), a known builder from Mudoi Gaon, Sootea breathed his last in Kolkata on Saturday evening while undergoing treatment. He was suffering from kidney related ailments for a long time. A meritorious Barua, was closely related with the historic Assam Movement. A Master's degree holder in Economics from Gauhati University, who taught in Goreswar College for a few months, was an eloquent orator and actor too. He had performed a picaresque role in the popular Assamese drama Maniram Dewan. Leaving the job of college teacher aside, he engaged himself in construction works and earned a good reputation as a builder. He was taken to Kolkata for his regular check up, but breathed his last while undergoing treatment. He leaves behind his wife, two sons along with a host of relatives
