Guwahati: Taking a jibe on opposition parties in Assam, the
chief minister of the state Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma has said that BJP can give
people 26 litres of milk where they can't get anything from the opposition
parties.
CM Sarma was addressing a rally poll campaign rally at Thowra on Tuesday.
He said that one should always buy a cow that gives milk.
"Congress has no government in the state so no milk can be produced, Raijor Dal's Government is nowhere to be found so no matter how hard you milk, you will not get anything. On the other hand, you can get 26 litres of milk by milking BJP", said the Chief Minister.
On the cattle protection bill, CM Sarma said that the bill is yet to be implemented.
Earlier, Congress MP Gaurav Gogoi slammed Assam Chief Minister Himanata Biswa Sarma over the microfinance loan waiver controversy. According to the MP, the Sarma administration has been promoting the interests of corporates while disregarding the poor and vulnerable section of society. Gogoi stated that during the previous Assam assembly election campaign, incumbent Chief Minister Sarma, when he was the State Health and Finance Minister, offered 100% waiver to micro-finance loanee women. He stated that Sarma should not commit such a treachery act.
Gogoi further said that the BJP-led state government is too preoccupied with servicing corporate interests amid the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic to help the poor and needy people who are trying to make ends meet. He also stated that many people had lost their jobs as a result of the lockdown and requested the government to assist them.
