Dibrugarh: The 11-hour bandh called by NESO on Tuesday was a thumping success here in Dibrugarh. Many people, both associated with AASU as well as the general public, thronged the streets ever since morning in stiff opposition to CAB.

Slogans such as ‘BJP Go Back’, ‘RSS Go Back’ and ‘We don’t want CAB’ rent the air, as many protesters burnt discarded tyres in a show of protest against the proposed Bill which has already been passed by the Lok Sabha. The presence of peasant leader Akhil Gogoi in Dibrugarh during the protests gave the agitations a stronger character. People from various places like Panchali and Naliapool took out processions for the cause. In the evening, thousands of people from Nirmali Gaon, Khoniya Gaon, Chowkidinghee and Milan Nagar thronged the streets, took out a massive rally and held demonstrations against CAB at Thanacharali.

The transportation system, including railways, was disrupted. Commercial establishments and educational and financial institutions stayed shut. There were no untoward incidents reported till the filing of this report.
