SILCHAR: With a view to review the preparedness of COVID management, Deputy Commissioner, Keerthi Jalli has held a meeting at the conference hall of the DC office, Silchar on Monday along with various stakeholders including Additional Deputy Commissioner health, Sumit Sattawan, Principal Silchar Medical College & Hospital Dr. Babul Bezbaruah, Superintendent, Silchar Medical College & Hospital Dr. Abhijit Swami, Dr. S. J. Das, Joint Director of Health Services, Dr.Ravi Kannan, Director, Cachar Cancer Hospital. The meeting was attended by officials of various Armed Forces Company, the owners of the private hospital, and suppliers of oxygen in the district and in-charge of various COVID care centers.
In view of the surge in the COVID positive cases, Deputy Commissioner has urged the owners of the private hospitals to keep ready their hospital for COVID treatment. They have been advised to tie-up with hotels so that they can accommodate mild symptomatic cases, as and when required. The president of Non-Govt. Health Establishment Association Nilabha Mazumder has assured all kinds of support in fighting this pandemic.
The officials of Armed Forces have been requested to keep ready their hospitals to give admission to their own asymptomatic COVID patients. However, they will be shifted to Medical College if their symptoms persist.
While reviewing the present scenario of oxygen supply in the district, Deputy Commissioner has been assured that sufficient stock and capacity of oxygen supply is available in the district to meet the need. However, Deputy Commissioner has warned against any illegal hoarding of oxygen by individuals or any establishment.
Deputy Commissioner, Keerthi Jalli, has urged the public not to panic but be careful. Use of mask and proper hygiene can save form the disease. A symptomatic cases can be cured at home. But symptomatic cases should be given proper and timely treatment. Deputy Commissioner has also expressed hope that with support of people of Cachar, the pandemic will be overcomed, stated a press release.
