Cachar police arrested Imam for murder of madrassa student
SILCHAR: Cachar police had arrested the Imam of Darus Salam Hafizia Aliya Madrassa of Hawaithang, Dholai for the gruesome murder of Rojimul Hussain Laskar, a 12-year-old student of the madrassa. Rojimul’s body in a pool of blood with his throat slit was found inside the room he was sharing with other boarders of the madrassa in the wee hour of Sunday. Cachar SP Nomal Mahatta informed the media that Mouksin Rahman Khan, the Imam of the madrassa had murdered the minor student out of vengeance. Mousksin Rahman, a resident of Kalain had joined the madrassa in Hawaithang , a small village near Mizoram border, six months back, allegedly tortured Rojimul, who too was admitted in the institute a couple of months ago. Rojimul had recently absconded from the madrassa and returned to his parents who lived in the nearby village Frenchnagar. Rojimul’s mother said, her son complained that the Imam used to beat him and even alleged that he had stolen a mobile phone. Rojimul’s parents brought the incident to the notice of the madrassa authority and a public meeting was held where the Imam assured that he would not misbehave with Rojimul. However the Imam turned furious and to avenge the insult he had faced publicly, he finally murdered the minor student with a dagger.
