KOKRAJHAR: A candle light rally was organized by BTC Secretariat on Tuesday evening for those who have lost their lives in the violence in Manipur and prayed for returning peace and normalcy in the trouble-torn State. The candle light rally was held in front of the BTC Secretariat where CEM of BTC Pramod Boro, Deputy Chief Gabinda Chandra Basumatary, EM Reo Reowa Narzihary, MLA Lawrence Islary, secretaries and joint secretaries and officials of BTC joined the programme and prayed for peace.

Talking to reporters, Pramod Boro said the clashes between Kukhis and Meiteis in Manipur was unfortunate as they have been living together peacefully over the years as brothers and sisters.

Boro said the consequences of violence were not good and if people are compelled to live in relief camps after displacement it takes long years for resettlement in their respective places and thus both the communities must exercise restraint for the greater interest of peaceful coexistence among them. He said the displacement caused manifold impact on socio –economic development and education sector suffers badly. He called upon both the communities to stop violence and come forward to restore peace and harmony.
