BURNIHAT: A 'bamboo shoot-processing training unit' and a state-of-the-art video conferencing facility were inaugurated at the premises of 'Cane and Bamboo Technology Centre' (CBTC), 13 Mile here (in Assam) by Air Marshal (retd) Anjan Kumar Gogoi, PVSM, AVSM, VSM (retd), who is also Member of the North Eastern Council (NEC), Government of India, Shillong, stated a release.
The bamboo shoot-processing training unit located in the CBTC premise will cater to the need of the entire North East and is expected to train people in the Food Processing sector using the abundantly available bamboo shoot. This training centre, equipped with all the modern machineries and expert trainer shall open new avenues for artisans, farmers and bamboo entrepreneurs of this region and shall be instrumental to achieve the 'Atmanirbhar Bharat' mission.
Speaking on the occasion as the Chief Guest, Air Marshal Gogoi appreciated the efforts of the CBTC and assured all possible support from the NEC to promote bamboo-based promotional activities in the region to uplift the rural economy and make the NER (North East Region) self-reliant. He added that cane should also be given importance. CBTC Managing Director, Dr Shailendra Chaudhari highlighted the activities taken up by Centre to promote bamboo enterprises with the latest suitable technology. He outlined the five years vision of CBTC to promote cane and bamboo and encourage the unemployed artisans and youth of the region.
Dr Chaudhari thanked the NEC, Ministry of DoNER for supporting these programmes. He also mentioned his gratefulness to Dr Jitendra Singh, Minister of DoNER for his constant encouragement and support to CBTC in delivering its services to the people.
