Cannabis plants destroyed near Boko under Kamrup district

RANGIA: Huge number of cannabis plants worth Rs 12 lakhs were destroyed at Sontoli, Bardiya, Nayapara, Barghol, Arakati, Kuchiadiya areas near Boko under Kamrup district. A joint armed raid was conducted by the Kamrup Excise team under direct supervision of DSE Amingaon at Boko Excise Circle. The operation was conducted by Deputy Superintendent of Excise Anand Das, Mirza Excise Inspector Bhumidhar Das, Assistant Inspector Chhattis Burman, Boko Excise Inspector Tulan Narah, Changchari Excise Inspector Niyor Dutta Barua, Samaria and, Sontali police with the help of locals in collaboration with NGO Char Chapari Yuba Aikya Manch. According to the police, the illegal cannabis cultivation was carried out in the yards and firms of some dishonest gangs. The excise officer said the operation will continue in the future.
