Captain Jintu Gogoi remembered on Kargil Vijay Diwas

India on Sunday observed Kargil Vijay Diwas to commemorate the success of Operation Vijay that was launched to recapture the posts that were lost to Pakistan in 1999 Kargil war.

Assam along with the entire country remembered the braveheart Kargil martyr Captain Jintu Gogoi on the occasion of 20th anniversary of Kargil Vijay Diwas.

Captain Jintu Gogoi have made supreme sacrifice for the cause of the nation.

Notably, he was the captain in 17 Garhwal of the Garhwal Rifles. He was posthumously honoured with the Vir Chakra for fighting valiantly against the enemy.

It has been reported that the day was observed at Captain Jintu Gogoi Commemoration Building at Khumtai in Assam's Golghat district.

The family members and local residents of Captain Gogoi's birthplace paid glowing tribute by hoisting a flag near the cemetery of the martyr.
