‘Cataract Free Doomdooma’ begins: Doomdooma MLA Rupesh Gowala

DOOMDOOMA: Doomdooma MLA Rupesh Gowala is preparing to launch a campaign titled ‘Cataract Free Doomdooma’ to free the patients suffering from cataract in the greater Doomdooma LAC area.

As per the schedule of the campaign, eye examination camps will be conducted at 29 places in collaboration with Gaon Panchayats and tea estates under Doomdooma constituency and patients diagnosed with cataract will be taken to Dibrugarh for surgery. The first of these camps was held on Tuesday at Beesakopie Tea Estate Hospital in which 162 patients were examined. Of them, 77 patients were found to have symptoms of cataract and they will be taken to Dibrugarh for operation.

Besides Doomdooma MLA Rupesh Gowala, the inaugural session of the eye screening camp was attended by the Deputy Commissioner of Tinsukia district, Swapneel Paul, Lakhimpur MP Pradan Baruah, the District Programme Officer of Tinsukia District Blindness Control Society, Amulya Borgohain, and other dignitaries.
