CBI records statement of SI Junmoni Rabha’s mother, SI Raja Irshad

NAGAON: In connection with the mysterious death of SI Junmoni Rabha, the CBI team led by DIG Lovely Katiyar on Sunday recorded the statement of Sumitra Rabha, the bereaved mother of SI Junmoni Rabha, at Nagaon circuit house. Sumitra Rabha, along with SI Junmoni Rabha’s cousin brother, arrived at Nagaon circuit house from Guwahati on Sunday morning.

Besides, the CBI team also called Raja Irshad, the then officer in-charge of Dhing PS who was later transferred to Kochuwa PS, to Nagaon circuit house. DIG Lovely Katiyar along with other officials of the CBI team quizzed Raja Irshad for long at the circuit house here and asked for explanation of every question or allegation raised by Sumitra Rabha, the bereaved mother of SI Junmoni, sources said, adding that the CBI team led by senior IPS officer Lovely Katiyar also took Sumitra Rabha to SI Junmoni Rabha’s official quarter at Nagaon police reserve and inspected the quarter minutely.

It is expected that the CBI team will also call on some senior officials of Nagaon district police administration whose names have been mentioned in the FIR lodged in Jakhalabandha PS by Sumitra Rabha. In the FIR, Sumitra Rabha mentioned the names of the then SP Leena Doley, IC Haibargaon Outpost Abhajyoti Rabha, Additional Superintendent of Police, (HQ) Tridib Kumbang and Raja Irshad, then officer in-charge of Dhing PS.

While speaking to some local media persons here, the cousin brother of SI Junmoni Rabha who accompanied Sumitra Rabha on Sunday, expressed his discontentment over Assam DGP GP Singh, saying that the state police administration concluded its accountability with a sum of Rs 50,000 to the victim family. He said that he would not say anything more on the issue for greater interest of the investigation of the case. It was also reported that the same CBI team had earlier also recorded the statement of one Zakaria, a police official of Jakhalabandha PS, in context to the suspicious road mishap near Sorubhogia under Jakhalabandha PS. Following the incident, the body of SI Junmoni Rabha was found inside her vehicle, sources added.
