DIBRUGARH: Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal, while conveying best Bihu wishes to people, called upon them to celebrate Bihu peacefully by adhering to COVID protocol strictly.
Speaking to media persons at his Dibrugarh residence on Friday, Sonowal said, "Keeping the gradual surge of COVID in the country in view, we should be cautious and take utmost care to check further spread of virus. The State Government in the interest of health security of the people, has been keeping strict vigil towards prevention of the infection," Sonowal asserted. He further stated that his government had no objection to celebrating the prime festival of the Assamese people –Bihu, but at the same breath he also appealed to the people for strict adhering to COVID protocol and to follow other directives of the health department.
Sonowal further urged upon the people the participation of people and the State Government in combating the new threat as put by the second wave of COVID virus. Answering a query of the media, Sonowal also had appealed to the cultural artists of Bihu to follow the Health Department's COVID protocol at any cost for safety of their own as well as the people.
"Every citizen has a duty to keep society free from any health threat and so one should be aware that any violation of directives and rules of prevention of spreading the virus will bring disaster to society," Sonowal cautioned.
