DHUBRI: Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Dhubri under Assam Agricultural University celebrated the 95th ICAR (Indian Council of Agricultural Research) Foundation and Technology Day which concluded at its premises at Haldibari campus of Dhubri district on Monday.
Two celebrations included an exhibition showcasing the promising agricultural technologies that has been released in recent times such as high yielding stress tolerant rice varieties, improved varieties of pulses and oilseeds, AWD, soil moisture based irrigation scheduling, technologies related to fishery science, veterinary science, agricultural meteorology, soil science, plant pathology and entomology, new generation agro chemicals like nano urea, nano DAP, seaweed extract, growth regulators, zinc solubilising bacteria, azospirillum, PSB, vermicompost technology, post harvest technology of grains etc.
Moreover, a grand harvest programme of summer paddy using combine harvester and reaper was organised in the paddy field of KVK. More than 250 farmers and farm women from various parts of the district, 2 public representatives including the MLA of Bilasipara (East) and Zilla Parishad Member, 8 government officials including the Circle Officer of Chapar, 2 Nos. of FPO/FPCs, 3 Nos. of self help groups, officials of NGO namely SeSTA, Tilak Prasad, Social worker and other attended the celebration. The public representatives and other dignitaries were felicitated by the Senior Scientist and Head of KVK, Dhubri Dr. F.U.A Ahmed.
At the onset of the programme, an inaugural lecture was delivered by Senior Scientist & Head of KVK, Dr. F.U.A Ahmed who welcomed all the guest and participants.
MLA of Bilasipara (East), Samsul Huda delivered an insightful lecture where he stressed on the adoption of modern agricultural technologies by the farmers and urged the scientists to develop such kind of farmer-friendly technologies in the coming days. The programme also followed with sapling distribution to all the invitees who attended the celebration.
