KOKRAJHAR: Synchronizing with the celebration of Independence Day, the CEM of Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC), Pramod Boro on Tuesday formally launched two ambitious missions-Green Bodoland Mission and Fin Rwdwmkhang Mission at a function held at Bodofa Cultural Complex here to mobilize planting of more than 1 crore saplings through various institutions aiming to make Bodoland clean and green and giving opportunity for livelihood through Fin Rwdwmkhang Mission to former members of NDFB.
Boro also launched the ‘Thengphakri Digital Empowerment Programme’ and distributed laptops and printers for empowerment of Cluster Resource Centre Coordinator (CRCC).
In his speech, CEM Pramod Boro said, “We announced last year to felicitate the best performers in various fields and thus this programme is organized. We feel proud that the world sees India with different attention. India reached this position because of bold leadership with a broader vision. India is the biggest democracy in the world. Our Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi has founded vibrant India with 5 trillion dollars with comprehensive policies and Make in India initiatives.”
He also said the Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma had also been working day and night to take Assam forward at the top of the list in India. “We have undertaken initiatives from KG to PG in the education sector which were not taken by the previous government. Bodoland School Adoption Programme is one of promising agendas to improve the education scenario in BTC. Fin Rwdwmkhang Bithangkhi is especially for former members of militant organizations to give them the way for livelihood,” he said adding that they were being provided livelihood kits and support.
Boro said piggery under Bodoland Pig Mission has feasibility for rural economic development because indigenous Bodo people are connected with rearing pigs. He said the Green Bodoland Mission was a very ambitious mission of the BTC government through which the council government is planning to plant more than 1 crore saplings in Bodoland to create Green Bodoland where every citizen will be part of it. He also said the environment of Bodoland is still in a good condition and it would be far better if massive plantations were carried out.
Boro said 100 best sports stars would be felicitated next year with citation and cash Rs 1 lakh each and best entrepreneurs with Rs. 50,000 and citation. The council government has decided to set up 420 knowledge centres in all VCDC levels to facilitate youths with science and technology.
“We will take forward sports, culture and education in a parallel way to make a Vibrant Bodoland. So, peace is requisite for it and thus Bodoland Peace Mission has been launched where over 500 youths from all communities are being given training,” he said adding that Bodoland peace and happiness study centre would be set up to bring peace and harmony among all.
So far 533 schools have been adopted under Bodoland School Adoption Programme. Fourteen best school adopters were felicitated by the CEM of BTC on Tuesday at the function.
Cheque of Rs 2 lakh each was distributed to 6 best pig rearers under Bodoland Pig Mission by speaker Katiram Boro, EMs- Reo Reoa Narzihary, Dharma Narayan Das, Wilson Hasda, Ukkl Mashahary, MCLA Madhav Chetei MLA Lawrence Islary. They are successful pig rearers.
Earlier, Pramod Boro felicitated Ranjana Sarania, gold medallist in the 4th Asian Kho Kho Championship held at Tamulpur in April and gave her Rs 10 lakh. He also distributed cheque to pig rearing farmers under Bodoland Pig Mission and cheque of Rs 24 lakh each to four groups of former NDFB of four districts for setting up of rice mill as part of the livelihood mission. The freedom fighters of Bodoland region were also felicitated on the occasion.
