Centenary celebration committee formed in Sonitpur district

JAMUGURIHAT: Jamuguri Higher Secondary School, a leading educational institution established in 1925 in Jamugurihat, Sonitpur district, will complete its centenary year of establishment in 2025. The 100th anniversary will be celebrated with a wide range of programmes. The school was established in 1925 with the great efforts of the education lovers and distinguished personalities of the time. The school has been maintaining good educational standards since its inception. The students studying in this school have been able to establish themselves as good citizens of the country. Many students have shown good results and achieved special places in the state while many of them are employed as high ranking government officials in different parts of the state as well as in different parts of the country.

In this connection, a public meeting was convened in the school premises on Saturday to discuss about the upcoming centenary celebration of the school and to form a celebration committee as with Janardan Bhuyan, former principal of the higher secondary school in the chair. The meeting began with a song composed by teacher Pradyumna Hazarika covering the history of the school followed by a welcome address offered by Jiban Bora, principal of the school. Addressing the public meeting as a chief guest Padma Hazarika, MLA Sootea LAC traced the golden history of the educational institution and paid homage to the departed souls who sacrificed a lot in the process of establishment of the school. The public meeting unanimously decided to observe a year-long programme as a part of centenary celebration from February 2024 to February 2025 and to organize a get-together.
