Central Karam Sanmilan celebrated in Doomdooma

DOOMDOOMA: Under the auspices of Central Karam Sanmilan Udjapon Samity, Doomdooma, Central Karam Sanmilan was celebrated with a day-long programme at Doomdooma town field recently.

The programme got underway with a marathon race. Later, local MLA and president of the Samity, Rupesh Goala hoisted the karam flag. It was followed by smriti tarpan initiated by general secretary Rupesh Tanti. Different cultural troupes presented traditional colourful dances. Besides that, Padma Shri awardee Jhumur Samrat Dulal Manki was given a public ovation on the occasion. President of Assam Chah Mazdoor Sangha and former Union Minister Paban Singh Ghatowar, former MLA and former State Labour Minister Dileswar Tanti and several other dignitaries took part in the programme. The festival was also celebrated by Chah Janagosthi Jatiya Mahasabha, Tinsukia District Committee at Khobong TE near Talap.
