BOKO: Chamaria Police outpost officer-in-charge Embrawel Daimary and his team seized a rice-laden Tata DI mini truck on October 17 at Baralimara village under Chamaria Police outpost in Boko LAC.

After inquiry, police came to know that the truck was carrying Rs 1 per kg rice to be distributed under the National Food Security Act and the rice was brought to Tamuldi village from Chamaria Satra Gaon Panchayat Cooperative Committee LTD. But police saw a bill against the rice which was billed on October 11, 2019. IC Embrawel enquired about the matter and he raided the cooperative committee agent Tamej Ali’s house in Tamuldi village. But he found nothing in the house. Instead, the police found 12 bags of rice in Ajed Ali’s house in the same village.

Tamej Ali’s son Samejuddin Ahmed is the headman of the village. IC Embrawel said that headman Samejuddin, his father and agent Tamej Ali and Ajed Ali were all absconding.

On the other hand, villagers alleged that the accused had sold government supply food items earlier also. IC Embrawel said that this could be possible only with the support of cooperative committee president Nitai Mandal and secretary Ramjan Ali. So he registered a case in this matter and for inquiry, the president and secretary of the cooperative committee will be taken under police custody while the main accused will be arrested soon, he said
