KOKRAJHAR: The last leg of mega mass gathering of the UPPL (United People's Party Liberal) was held at Ashrabari open field on Monday near the village of former BTC Deputy Chief and BPF candidate Kampa Borhoyari in Chirang district. The mass gathering was held for all seven candidates of the party of Chirang district where nearly one lakh people attended.

Addressing the huge gathering, UPPL president Promod Boro said the change of guards in the BTC is need of the hour, and people have come forward to make it happen. He said the BPF in the last 17 years has failed to bring a sustainable development and welfare for the people.

"The people, especially of northern part of the BTC region were left with utter neglect in all spheres. The people of border areas of Bhutan foothills have severe shortage of drinking water facilities but in the last one and half decade, Mohilary-led BPF has failed," he said.

He stressed that the indigenous people of the region does not have land pattas.

"People are having trouble in acquiring land or registration certificate during BPF's rule but the UPPL will ensure to fix it within six months if it comes to power," Boro claimed.

He also said that all communities want to live peacefully with dignity and honour but the BPF government has failed to provide security to the people.

Boro said hundreds of unemployed youths were leaving for different cities across the country to seek job as the BPF government has totally failed to create jobs and set up industries for the unemployed youths. He assured that the UPPL will create jobs by taking new policies and establish industries for the youths. He also assured that the UPPL government will provide Rs. 75,000 to each SHG for economic development of women which would be enhanced annually.

The UPPL president alleged that the BPF leaders and grass root workers were involved in embezzlement of money of job card, old age pension and PMAY houses etc. He said all scamsters of the BPF would be jailed if the UPPL comes to power.

"I am not a leader but a simple worker. Give me a chance to serve you", he said adding that if UPPL forms government than the officers of all departments must dedicate their service and go to villages in their respective fields for the interest of common people.

The grand public meeting was chaired by UPPL vice president Rwngwra Narzary and the welcome speech was delivered by Ranjit Basumatary, candidate of Chirang Duar constituency. The meeting was addressed by former Rajya Sabha MP and founder of UPPL Urkhao Gwra Brahma, UPPL secretary Wilson Hasda, UPPL leaders Murshida Begum, Uttam Kr. Ray and Bhabesh Sharma, and the seven candidates of the party from Chirang district.
