Check hike in prices of essential items, ADSU tells Haflong merchants

HAFLONG: Considering the suffering of people in general during the pandemic, All Dimasa Students' Union appealed to the Haflong Merchant Association to control the price rise of essential commodities till the improvement of the situation.

The ADSU on June 25 has held a discussion with the Haflong Merchant Association along with Saloon owners wherein the saloon owners agreed to maintain previous rate for the hair cutting. The Haflong Merchant Association after prolong discussion opined that with the support from ADSU and other NGOs, the price rise could be controlled.

Srikant Dey, general secretary, Haflong Merchant Association said the meeting was an important one since it was to find out the solution to control price rise in Dima Hasao at a time when the people are facing utter sufferings due to pandemic . He also said the rate for fish and meat is also to be brought under control after holding discussion with the retailers of fish and meat.

Uttam Langthasa, president, ADSU district committee said we have a prolong discussion with the Haflong Merchant Association also with the Saloon owners on price rise in the district and appealed to bring down the price of essentials to relieve the people during the worldwide pandemic as a conscious citizens. He said that the people of Dima Hasao have already suffered a lot due to pandemic and if the price of essentials is hiked, the condition of the people would be bad to worst. Therefore, it has become need of hour to control the price rise of essentials in the market.
