Child Abuse Case: Sangeeta Datta's Health Examination Conducted At GMCH

GUWAHATI: Sangeeta Datta, prime accused in the city child abuse case, was escorted from Panbazar police station to the forensic centre of Gauhati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) for a physical examination.

In the GMCH forensic department on Wednesday, a blood sample was examined and a physical examination was performed.

Sangeeta Datta, the main suspect in the shocking Guwahati child abuse case, was subjected to additional questioning on Monday.

Miguel Das Queah, a child rights advocate, was chosen by the Child Welfare Committee (CWC) on Tuesday to serve as the victims' support person in the Guwahati abuse case.

The responsibility of providing legal support for the young victims up until their rehabilitation is entrusted to Miguel, who has been outspoken in the case of child abuse ever since the community filed a complaint against a well-known medical pair.

According to sources, CWC has designated him as a support person under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POSCO) Act.

It should be mentioned that on the day the event surfaced, Miguel Das posted on Facebook that he had been getting complaints for a while about a doctor couple who frequently chained their adoptive daughter to their terrace in the sweltering summer heat.

He claimed that after getting the allegations, he asked the witnesses to report what they had seen, but that no one was willing to do so because they were afraid of the doctor pair who had a history of intimidating them.

After being questioned by the authorities, Dr. Sangeeta Datta disclosed that the little victim was not her own child.

She alleged that a woman "handed over" the victim girl and her twin brother to the doctor couple in Guwahati in 2019.

The victim was allegedly sexually assaulted, according to the Guwahati police in Assam.

Dr Sangeeta Datta and Dr Waliul Islam, a doctor couple with a lucrative medical practice in Guwahati, burned their 'adopted' daughter's privates with cigarettes. According to the Assam police, this was verified after the victim, a young girl, underwent the required medical exams.

Guwahati commissioner of police Diganta Barah said, “The minor girl child was kept captive at the fourth floor of Roma Enclave, the residence of the doctor couple. The 3-year-old baby girl bore injury and burnt marks on her private parts and bruises on many parts of her body. During medical examination, it was also found that the toddler’s private parts were burned with cigarettes.”
