Tezpur: Children’s Day was celebrated across the State with a series of programmes organized by children and the district administrations. Lokopriya Gopinath Bordoloi Regional Institute of Mental Health (LGBRIMH), on this day, inaugurated the Child and Adolescent Psychiatry (CAP) services at Gate no 3, OPD complex, LGBRIMH on Thursday.
The programme started with lighting of the lamp by the chief guest Dr Rajeev K Doley, Director of Centre for Inclusive Development, Tezpur University, Dr Niruprabha Saharia, Head of Department of Paediatrics, Tezpur Medical College and Dr SK Deuri, Director of LGBRIMH. Dr Siddeswara, organizing secretary and Assistant Professor of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry of LGBRIMH delivered the welcome address.
Dr Sonia P Deuri, Dean of Faculty of Medicine and Allied Health Sciences, GU and Head of the Department of Psychiatric Social Work , LGBRIMH, Dr K Pathak, Medical Superintendent and Head of the Department of Psychiatry also spoke on various aspects of child mental health, disabilities and community child mental health. It was also highlighted about the need for such services in this part of the country.
Later, it was followed by prize distribution, stage performances by children and a skit by students and residents of LGBRIMH to raise awareness about mental health. Dr Manosij Maity, Senior Resident, Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, LGBRIMH offered the vote of thanks. The programme was attended by children from neighbouring schools, school principals, teachers, institute personnel. The programme concluded with the National Anthem.
