TINSUKIA: A child died after being hit by a two-wheeler in the Powai locality of the Tinsukia district of the state on Friday. The incident took place on National Highway 315 near the Powai Railway station located in the Margherita sub-division of the Tinsukua district at around noon.

A child who perished in the incident was identified as seven-year-old Raj Orang. He was killed on the spot after being hit by a TVS Apache motorcycle bearing registration number AS 23 AF 6571. The driver of the vehicle was identified as Jabbar Khan and he was reportedly riding the vehicle at a high speed while going from Margherita towards Digboi. He hit the child in the Nagapara locality of the Powai tea estate.

Digboi Police arrived at the location of the accident and took Jabbar Khan into custody and confiscated his motorcycle.

In another accident that took place in the capital city, one Mahindra XUV vehicle hit a motorcycle in the Forest Gate locality of Guwahati on the morning of Friday. The motorcycle rider sustained injuries in the accident and was shifted to a medical facility by Jalukbari Police and the driver of the four-wheeler was detained. Both the vehicles involved in the accident were seized by police.

In one more accident, a jawan of the ONGC no.25 battalion died in a road accident in Bokota. The body of jawan Sanjib Phukan was recovered from Bokota Naohalia Gaon. According to sources, Sanjib Phukan was travelling at night on a Pulsar motorcycle (AS 06 AD 8760) when the accident took place. Locals found his body in the morning and immediately informed the Bokota Nemuguri Police. The Bokota Nemuguri Police reached the area and recovered the body. Sanjib was a resident of Chabua.
