Chinese pangolin rescued in Baksa District

Tamulpur: Some villagers from Binowapur Tinali under Kumarikata forest range office in Baksa district along Indo-Bhutan border rescued an endangered species of Chinese pangolin on Saturday night.

The villagers saw it along the bank of a pond and caught it with a fishing net. On Sunday morning, the villagers informed the forest officials of the Kumarikata forest range office about the pangolin. A large number of villagers thronged to have a glimpse of the pangolin. A team from the Kumarikata forest range office reached Binowapur village at around 8.30 am and took the Chinese pangolin into their custody. The forest team later safely released the rescued pangolin in the Dihira Reserve Forest in presence of forest officials and locals.
