BONGAIGAON: A total of 17 power tillers, 11 under the Horticulture Mission for North East and Himalayan States (HMNEH) and six under National Food Security Mission (NFSM), were distributed among the farmers by the Agriculture department, Chirang on Monday.
Ringkhang Mashahary, ADC, Chirang, distributed the power tillers at a subsidized rate under these two schemes to selected beneficiaries at a small function. Addressing the farmers, ADC Mashahary expressed hope that the help from the department would surely boost the confidence of farmers. He also advised the farmers benefited to lend a helping hand to other needy farmers so that all the farmers could work hard to increase the crop production.
During the programme, as head of the district agriculture department, S. Mushahary said that the present government was taking every possible step to increase the agriculture production with active utilization of available technology in the field of agriculture sector.
Other officials of agriculture department, including a good number of leading farmers of the district, were also present on the occasion.
