Kokrajhar: The Deputy Commissioner of Chirang, Gautam Talukdar on Thursday held an emergent meeting with traders, whole sellers and transporters in presence of Food, Civil Supply and Consumer Affairs (FCS&CA) officials to ease out transportation and maintenance of buffer foodstuff during the lockdown period.
The meeting, which was held in the conference hall of the Deputy Commissioner’s office, Chirang, was also attended by Sudhakar Singh, Superintendent of Police of Chirang, and Additional Deputy Commissioner Karmadev Brahma.
Initiating the discussion, Deputy Commissioner Talukdar took the stock of available foodstuff from the officials of FCS&CA as well as from the traders and wholesalers in the district. Accordingly, the officials and the representatives of business community informed that they had sufficient stock of foodstuff in their possession to be able to face any eventualities during the lockdown period.
In his address, Talukdar said that there should not be any shortage of food products and essential goods. He asked them to maintain sufficient stock of essential items so that these could be sold through the shops and establishments which were excluded from the restriction of the lockdown, such as PDS groceries, general grocery stores, milk stores, animal fodder stores, LPG counters, petrol pumps and other shops for essential items.
