KOKRAJHAR: The Chirang district administration is all set to conduct the ensuing BTC election, 2020 in its three constituencies- 13- Chirang (ST), 14- ChirangDuars (ST) and 15- Kajalgaon (ST) Bodoland Territorial Council Constituencies (BTCC) as it has so far finished its preparations both for polling and counting process.
This was apprised by the Deputy Commissioner and Returning Officer, Gautam Talukdar while conducting a briefing meeting with the contesting candidates and polling agents here in the conference hall of the Deputy Commissioner's office on Sunday. He informed that as the election to the Bodoland Territorial Council was drawing near, they had completed all the preparations and were ready to conduct smooth and free and fair elections in their election district. He said that they had already received printed ballot papers and set up the issue and receipt counters at the district parade ground, strong room at the warehouse near the Deputy Commissioner's residence and counting halls at the district parade ground while training had been imparted for polling personnel.
"There will be 7+7=14 counting tables for each of the BTC constituencies in two adjacent separate counting halls under the supervision of one ARO in each counting hall in respect of all these three constituencies," he further informed.
As such, Talukdar asked the contesting candidates and polling agents to collect the postal ballot papers from the respective cells as per their requirements within November 6 and to drop all these before 7 am on December 12.
Apart from that, he appealed to them to cooperate with the district administration in implementing all the election procedures so that they could conduct free and fair elections in the district. He further asked them to abide by the model code of conduct properly from their side and not to believe in any rumour unless it is confirmed by the right authorities.
The meeting was attended by Sudhakar Singh, Superintendent of Police of Chirang, Additional Deputy Commissioner Karmadev Brahma, Jagadish Brahma, Circle Officer, Sidli, contesting candidates and polling agents from BJP, Congress (I), BPF, UPP (L), GSP, and independent candidates.
