Christmas celebrated with joy and merriment in Kokrajhar

KOKRAJHAR: Christmas was celebrated with joy and merriment across the district to mark the birth of Jesus Christ. All the denominations of Christian followers celebrated the birth of Christ and prayed for peace and love in their respective churches.

The Catholic followers of Kokrajhar town celebrated the Christmas at Salesian John Bosco Catholic Church while Baptist followers at their Kwdwmtola Church.

Similarly, the Lutheran Church was also seen with merriment at Gaurang Church, NE Evangelist Church and other denominations were seen celebrating the day with joy and happiness.

The Catholic denomination which has the largest followers in Kokrajhar and Chiang districts thronged the churches at Kokrajhar, Dotma, Gossaigaon, Saraibil, Ramfalbil, Siljan and Magurmari in Kokrajhar, Bengtol, Gurubhasa, Runikhata, Chapaguri, Bijni, Kwila Mwila, Amteka, Owguri in Chirang district.

Rev. Fr. J. Mashahary and Rev. Fr. Peter administered the holy sacrament at Kokrajhar John Bosco Catholic Church and prayed for peace in world.

Pork the primary demand in every household made a shortfall in the markets in the past couple of days.

It is to be noted that in every Christian family, they make traditional pita, sitao, laru, all made from rice powder and meats. They serve eateries to the guests and neighbours.
