DOOMDOOMA: Circle Officer (CO), Doomdooma Revenue Circle, Nandita Roy Gohain paid a visit to Doomdooma daily market around 2 PM on Wednesday to inspect the prices of the commodities, the weighing machines used by the shopkeepers and observance of COVID-19 protocol. She also took steps to dismantle the unauthorized occupation of the footpaths by wayside vendors.

As per instruction of the Superintendent of Police (SP), Tinsukia district, OC, Doomdooma PS, Inspector Dibyajyoti Dutta took measures to distribute masks to the people, including children loitering on the roads, in different parts of the town and appealed to them to strictly adhere to COVID protocol as instructed by the government. Otherwise, the police would be compelled to impose fine in the event of non-compliance of COVID protocol.

On the other hand, although the 6.7 earthquake jolted Doomdooma area on Wednesday morning, no reports of any damage of property were received from anywhere.

Personnel of the Tinsukia Division of NF Railway — which has its headquarters at Tinsukia — inspected the railway lines on Wednesday to ascertain whether there were any cracks on the railway lines in its Makum-Dangri and Tinsukia-Ledo section. Reportedly no such damage was observed.
