Dibrugarh: Four passengers who were about to board a New Delhi-bound flight have been arrested with Rs 79 lakh in cash at Dibrugarh airport on Wednesday.

The four persons have been identified as Mohammad Jalaluddin Talukdar, Sanjay Kumar Swami, Sajan Singh, and Ram Avatar Swami. They were apprehended by the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) personnel while their luggage was being scanned before boarding the flight to New Delhi.

They were carrying the amount in two cartons from Khonsa district of Arunachal Pradesh, this was confirmed by Dibrugarh superintendent of police Prateek Vijay Kumar Thube. He also added that the four men have been handed over to the Income Tax Department for further investigation.

According to sources, the passengers took the money from a man named Bijoy Shankar Agarwalla and was supposed to go to Rajasthan from Delhi.
