LAKHIMPUR: Along with the rest of the State, the Lakhimpur district unit of All Assam Students' Union (AASU) observed Black Day on Sunday as mark of protest against controversial Citizenship (Amendment) Act (CAA). Notably, the controversial Act was passed in Parliament on December 11 in 2019 despite widespread protests across the Northeast. In this connection, the AASU members hoisted black flags and displayed black banners at Swahid Bedi premises of North Lakhimpur town as a sign of protest against the draconian Act. The district leaders of the organization declared that they would continue agitation against the Act in addition to carry on legal fight.
