TINSUKIA: At the backdrop of massive protest over Citizenship (Amendment) Bill (CAB) issue and apprehending breach of peace and tranquillity, Deputy Commissioner of Tinsukia Bhaskar Pegu made a fervent appeal to all mediapersons in the district not to make exaggerate stories that could flare up disharmony among the various communities. In a hurriedly convened press meet on Friday evening at DC’s conference hall, Pegu said Tinsukia being a sensitive district, a third party force might create disturbance based on fake stories.

While requesting mediapersons to refrain from filing provocative news, Pegu further informed that he had received positive responses from various student and youth organisations with whom he had interaction on Friday. He also expressed concern over unregulated social media sensitization. Sarangapani Sarma, the DDC of Tinsukia requested mediapersons to share advance information that is likely to jeopardise peace in the district. The other officials present in the press meet were ADCs Gurnel Singh, Prasenjit Kakoty and Nilurom Sarma AC.
