Civic activities for border population conducted in Barpeta

BARPETA: Keeping the development of the border population paramount, SSB 27 Bn distributed solar lights, sports kits, tailoring machine, bags, etc. at BOP Lakhi Bazar in presence of State Textile and Handloom Minister UG Brahma, and other dignitaries.

For border unemployed females, a three-week tailoring training was conducted in three groups. The minister distributed sewing machines, iron press to each group’s first, second and third position holders. Besides, consolation prizes of hand bag and tailoring kit were given to all 36 trainees.

SSB 27 Bn also constructed a toilet block in the public place of Mainapokhri Temple. The minister said that various civic activities initiated by SSB had improved the life of the border population viz pre-recruitment rally, study tour, sports development, skill development, infrastructure development etc.

While briefing media persons, Commandant Abhishek Anand said that in last five years, SSB had expended around Rs 50 lakh for the development of the standard of life of the border population.
