SADIYA: As a part of safeguarding the rights of the indigenous communities in the State, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, at a programme held at Chapakhowa in Sadiya, formally presented allotment certificates of land pattas to five beneficiaries.
Speaking on the occasion, Chief Minister Sarma said that since Sadiya belongs to tribal belt and block, the people belonging to Ahom, Chutiya, Moran, Matak, Gorkha were getting deprived of their land rights. In order to give them land rights, the State Government, through a cabinet decision, had categorized these people belonging to these communities as protected categories. Earlier, Sarma dedicated 132/33 KV Chapakhowa Grid Sub-station to the service of the people. The sub-station has been built involving a financial outlay of Rs. 73.87 crore. Speaking on the occasion, Sarma said that people of Sadiya had been suffering from electricity shortage for a long time. However, with the inauguration of this sub-station, the long-standing problem of the local people of Sadiya would be solved, stated a press release.
