CM Himanta Biswa Sarma interacts with prominent citizens of Sivasagar

The State government has prepared a plan to give a new look to the state-of-the-art with auditoriums, heritage villages, indigenous stalls, etc.

SIVASAGAR: The State government has prepared a plan to give a new look to the state-of-the-art with auditoriums, heritage villages, indigenous stalls, etc. around the historic Rang Ghar, famed as Asia's first pavilion, carved with unique sculptures belonging to the six hundred years of Ahom dynasty. Assam Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma announced the ambitious scheme launched by the State government with a focus on Rang Ghar in Sivasagar on Sunday evening.

The Chief Minister who arrived in Sivasagar by helicopter from Jorhat first held a discussion with senior officials of the district administration regarding various schemes being implemented in the district at Sivasagar Circuit House.

Soon after the meeting, Dr Sarma reached Yuvadal auditorium and held an interactive session with 117 prominent citizens from different parts of the district. The purpose of the interactive session was explained by the district Guardian Minister and State Education Minister Dr Ronoj Pegu and the event was anchored by Brojen Bora.

Talking about the ambitious heritage cultural project that has been taken to change the face of Sivasagar, the Chief Minister said that the State government has already acquired 83 bighas of land at Rupahi Pathar which is adjacent to the back of Rang Ghar for the purpose of constructing a project by augmenting various facilities around Rang Ghar.

The Chief Minister also informed that the suggestions of the eminent persons would be taken up in consultation with the MPs and MLAs of Sivasagar district at a later stage regarding the finalization of the project and efforts would be made to implement it immediately after the New Year's Budget.

In the project, construction of an Amphitheatre for 5,000 people to sit and watch Bihu, construction of an Amphitheatre for 2000 people, construction of a pond on 9 bighas of land as well as preservation of ancient Sanchi Leaf books at Tai Museum, construction of a heritage village for traditional food, for display of traditional costumes of different ethnic groups, construction of small stalls with ethnic look for tourist attractions and various other facilities will be made, Dr Sarma added.

Cabinet Ministers Dr. Ranoj Pegu , Jayanta Malla Barua and Ashok Singhal, MP and Political Secretary to the Chief Minister Pabitra Margherita, Sivasagar Deputy Commissioner Aditya Vikram Yadav, Commissioner of Public Works (Building) Department Siraj Chakraborty and other officials of district administration were also present on the occasion.
