PATHSALA: Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Tuesday visited the flood-affected areas of Medhikuchi, Kuwara, Charalpara at Bajali to understand the current flood situation and damage caused by the overflowing of Pahumara and Kaldia Rivers. The CM also interacted with the affected people and assured them of all possible assistance.
Medhikuchi has witnessed immense destruction following the breaching of Pahumara embankment. Around 40 families were homeless following the flood havoc. While visiting flood relief camps at No 425 Medhikuchi Model Primary School and PHC at Bhabanipur, Bajali, the CM said that he will provide assistance for the reconstruction of damaged houses. Sarma said, "We shall extend all necessary assistance to the affected people. We will also prepare a list of such people and take further actions accordingly."
Rs 9 crore has been sanctioned for strengthening the embankment of the Pahumara river and construction of a road on it, he added. Sarma was accompanied by Minister of Panchayat and Rural Development Ranjit Kumar Dass.
