GUWAHATI: Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal on Tuesday attended the last rites of former Chief Minister Dr. Bhumidhar Barman at Belsor in Nalbari district and paid his rich tributes to the departed leader. He paid floral tributes to the mortal remains of the former Chief Minister which was consigned to flames with full state honours.
Later talking to the reporters on the side line of the funeral activity, Chief Minister Sonowal said with the death of Dr. Bhumidhar Barman, the state lost a great leader and a towering personality. Not only as a political leader, he served the society selflessly as a physician. The examples set by him will inspire the posterity to serve the motherland with diligence, devotion and honesty. Sonowal at the same time prayed to the Almighty for eternal peace of the departed soul, stated a press release.
