Unlike Congress, BJP has given jobs to meritorious poor youths transparently: Sonowal

GUWAHATI: Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal on Monday attended a public rally at Silapthar in Dhemaji in presence of Union Home Minister Amit Shah. Addressing the people, he said that India has progressed rapidly under Prime Minister Narendra Modi since 2014. The Bogibeel Bridge, which could not be completed by the Congress Government, attained completion of construction work due to Prime Minister Modi's initiatives and now, it has facilitated easy communication to the North Bank districts from Dibrugarh side and vice versa, he said.

He also addressed a public rally at Majuli along with Home Minister Shah and expressed his gratitude towards people of Majuli for their support and blessings which enabled him to serve the people of Majuli and Assam for achieving holistic development and he hoped that they would continue to extend their support in the future as well.

Later speaking at a public meeting at Sivasagar, Sonowal said due to the fulfillment of promises given by the BJP-led State government while coming to power in 2016 the people have reaped benefits.

"Five years ago, Assam was plagued by corruption as the Congress government had looted money meant for the poor. Today the scenario has changed under the BJP-led State government and corruption has been minimised to a great extent through relentless efforts. Our government has sent many corrupt officials behind bars taking a tough stand against corrupt practices and given jobs to many meritorious poor youths transparently," he asserted.

Saying that now beneficiaries have been able to receive government scheme benefits directly in their bank accounts without middlemen, Sonowal said that during the Congress Government's time people had to bribe for getting basic government services and now, all government schemes have been implemented transparently which has brought the people's faith back on the administrative system.

He also said that militancy has been curbed to a great extent in the State under BJP-led State government and strong steps taken against poaching have resulted in the increase in rhino and other wildlife population in the reserve forests and sanctuaries of the state. Israeli technology has been used to seal the riverine stretches of Indo-Bangla border by the BJP government stopping the infiltration from across border, he said.

Later on, Sonowal attended another rally at Dhemaji and urged the people to elect the BJP candidates with big margins, stated a release.
