CM Sarbananda Sonowal directs CID to assist investigators in Kalaigaon case

TANGLA: Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal has directed CID and forensic experts to assist Udalguri police to investigate the case related to recovery of the body of school teacher Nayantara Sahariah (53) in the classroom of a private school at Kalaigaon in Udalguri district on Tuesday.

Confirming the development, DGP, Assam Police, Bhaskarjyoti Mahanta in a tweet stated that police would leave no stone unturned to bring the culprits to book. Meanwhile, sleuths of CID and forensic experts visited Kalaigaon on Wednesday to assist Udalguri police to solve the case.

On the other hand, a number of organizations, including Kalaigaon unit of All Assam Students' Union (AASU), All Assam Jatiyatabadi Yuva Chatra Parishad (AJYCP) and Nari Mukti Sangram Samiti (NMSS), staged a sit-in at Mangaldai-Bhutiachang road demanding the arrest of culprits and justice to Nayantara Sahariah and submitted memoranda to the Kalaigaon Revenue Circle Office.

"We are investigating the matter and working on clues. Disclosing them will be detrimental to the investigation," said a police officer privy to the case.
