Majuli: Chief Minister of Assam Sarbananda Sonowal launched the website of Majuli Cultural University in Majuli on Friday. The website of Majuli Cultural University, http://muoc.ac.in will give information about various courses offered by the university along with other important information.
Majuli is also the home constituency of CM Sonowal.
The official Twitter handle of Chief Minister's Office (CMO), Assam shared a few pictures of the ceremonial launch of the university website.
"CM Shri @sarbanandsonwal arrived at his home constituency, the sacred river island district of Majuli and launched website of Majuli University of Culture http://muoc.ac.in. A presentation was also made before the CM about various courses to be taught at the university," tweeted the CMO Office, Assam.
Speaking on the occasion, CM Sonowal said that the university will pave a way for the youth of the state to study Assam's rich cultural heritage in a systematic way. He further emphasised on turning the university into a cultural industry, which will in return help the students learn to manage cultural institutions professionally.
Dambarudhar Nath, the Vice-Chancellor of the university gave a presentation about the various courses that the university will offer to the students. The courses to be imparted by the university includes audiovisual arts, religious studies, literature, social science, Indian traditional medicines, language and linguistics, etc.
The classes of the university will temporarily start at Majuli College.
Various dignitaries including Satradhikar of Uttar Kamalabari Satra, Janardan Deb Goswami, Secretary of Srimanta Sankardev Kalakshetra, Sudarshan Thakur, DC Majuli were present in the website launch programme.
