Bijni: Campaigning for the second phase of elections for the
Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) has intensified with just two days to go for
voting to take place.
Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal and State's Finance Minister and BJP mascot Himanta Biswa Sarma was seen actively participating in campaigning in Kokrajhar and Chirang districts ahead of the second phase of the voting to be held on December 10.
Speaking at the election campaign held at Naudari in Bijni, Chirang District on Monday ahead of the second phase of the BTC polls, CM Sonowal promised to establish equality, equal development, equal status, and permanent peace for the people of Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR) if BJP is voted to power.
CM
Sonowal has promised to eradicate corruption from the BTC and establish
equality, and justice among different ethnic groups.
Claiming
the main goal of the BJP is to ensure peace, progress, coordination, and
security in BTR, he called upon the people to come out against the injustice,
fraud, and exploitation that took place during the 15-year rule of the BPF.
During
the 15-year rule of the BPF failed to provide security of life and property
to the people of the four districts, Chirang, Baksa, Udalguri, and Kokrajhar of
the region and did not take the slightest steps for their development.
The
people of the region would have been able to reap the benefits of the schemes
adopted by the Central and State Governments. However, due to mismanagement,
and corruption in the last 15 years, the people of the region have been
deprived of its due. But once the BJP will come to power in BTR every
beneficiary will be able to avail the benefits of each scheme of the Central
and State Governments said CM Sonowal.
CM
Sonowal further said the path of development of BTC will be paved only after
the formation of the BJP government.
