CMs Of Assam, Meghalaya To Meet Amit Shah On Mar 29 To Resolve Inter-State Border Row

Guwahati: The Chief Minister of Assam and Meghalaya will meet Union Home Minister on March 29 to sign an agreement to resolve border disputes between two states.

The same was apprised by the Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad Sangma after he received official communication from the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA).

"I have received the official communication that the honourable Home Minister has fixed the date for 29th (March) at 4:30 pm. This communication has come from MHA Secretary Piyush Goyal, so all preparation has been made for 29th," Sangma said.

As the pressure mounted on Sangma-led Meghalaya government to relook into the interstate boundary settlement, Sangma said that his government has discussed it with all their coalition partners and they have shared the information.

''It is always our endeavour to see how we can see find a solution and ensure that all concerns are met but of course, there will always be a limitation. We have gone through heavy exercise in the last six months so, we may not able to resolve all the issues, but it will always be our endeavour to try and resolve as far as possible," he added.

Earlier Sangma had informed the state Assembly budget session that the signing of the agreement to resolve the six areas of difference between Assam and Meghalaya will take place in New Delhi on March 27.
