Committee constituted for Water & Sanitation Mission under Jal Jeevan Mission

HAILAKANDI: A District level Committee for Water and Sanitation Mission under Jal Jeevan Mission for improvement of rural water supply and sanitation programme has been constituted here. An order was issued to this effect on Monday by Deputy Commissioner Megh Nidhi Dahal. An 18-member committee headed by Dahal as Chairman and Executive Engineer, Public Health Engineering department as Member-Secretary has been constituted.

The committee with officials drawn in from Zilla Parishad, Forest, Health, Education, Agriculture, DIPRO, APDCL, PWD (Roads), Water Resources, DRDA, among others, will ensure preparation of village action plan after taking stock of each village for functional household tap connections (FHTCs) and finalization of a district action plan to provide FHTC to every household by 2024. The committee will prepare detailed project reports in consultation with gram panchayats and ensure convergence of PMKVK to create a pool of skilled human resource to be engaged by gram panchayats. It will facilitate deployment of NGOs, VOs and CVO partners as implementation support agencies. The committee will monitor and evaluate physical and financial performance.
