RANGIA: A meeting of Kamrup District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) was held at the conference hall of the Deputy Commissioner's office, Kamrup on Friday.

The meeting, chaired by DC, Kamrup-cum-chairman, DDMA, Kailash Kartik N, was organized in order to approve the proposals received from various Revenue Circles to provide assistance as per norms of the government to the eligible people who have been affected by storm so far in this year in Kamrup district. The proposals have been received from seven revenue circles of the district so far in the current financial year. Out of these, 33 proposals are for partially damaged pucca houses. Similarly, proposals for 38 completely damaged kutcha houses and 464 partially damaged kutcha houses have been received. In addition, 48 proposals have also been received for affected cattle shed. In the meeting, all these proposals were placed before the district disaster management authority officials and Circle Officers concerned, including other officials of the district administration, to discuss in detail.

After discussion and deliberation on all the issues, the proposals were approved. In the meeting total of Rs. 53.71 lakh were sanctioned on Friday, which includes Rs. 36,13,800 for fully damaged kutcha house, Rs. 1,71,600 and Rs.14,84,800 for the partially damaged pucca and kutcha houses respectively and Rs.1,00,800 for cattle sheds.

While addressing the meeting, DC Karthik directed all circle officers and field officers of DDMA to stay compulsorily at their own headquarters so that proper emergency services can be provided at the right time during this period of disaster. He also urged everyone to ensure zero breach embankments this time. On the other hand, initiative has been taken to provide Rs 4 lakh under the State Disaster Response Fund (SDRF) to the family of teenager Rafiqul Islam who succumbed to flood at Rangapani in Sontali Mouza of South Kamrup on Thursday.
