Compilation of essays by Tulshi Chandra Hatibaruah released in Jamugurihat

JAMUGURIHAT: A compilation of essays and other write-ups written by Tulshi Chandra Hatibaruah titled Tulshi Chandra Haribaruah Samagra Rachabawali was released by Hiranya Borah, Deputy Director General (Statistics), Government of India, in a book release function held at Normal Practicing School, Sootea recently with Dilip Kumar Bhuyan in the chair.

Tulshi Chandra Hatibaruah was a prominent freedom fighter of Sootea area. Hatibaruah had established a printing press at Magurmari village, to the north of Sootea in 1926. His printing press was seized by the British government in 1942. He came in close contact with Rai Bahadur Padmanath Gohain Baruah and established himself as a poet during the time of Usha. He published Kabyakali, a collection of Assamese poems in 1916. Hatibaruah had denied accepting the copper plaque and freedom fighter pension offered by the government.

Hiranya Borah, Deputy Director General (Statistics), Government of India, and author of 151 books graced the occasion and unveiled the book. Hiranya Bora also originally hails from Sootea. Bora highlighted the life, ideology and contributions made by Tulshhi Chandra Hatibaruah. The meeting was also addressed by Ganesh Pathak, Mayurakhi Mahanta, Ramen Bora, Manashi Devi, Bhaba Saikia among others.
