LAKHIMPUR: Bhaskarjyoti Maina Parijat, one of the active children's body of the Lakhimpur district, located at Japisajia near North Lakhimpur town, celebrated the concluding ceremony of its year-long golden jubilee festival since Saturday with a four-day long programme. The landmark event of the children''s body has been underway at Arunoday Sangha auditorium in an enthusiastic environment, coloured by talented performances of the children.
In order to celebrate the event, the Golden Jubilee Festival Celebration Committee has organized various competition events in view of physical, mental, intellectual and spiritual enhancement of the children. On Saturday, the agenda of the event began with a cleanliness and plantation drive. Then Golden Jubilee Festival Celebration Committee president Chandra Das hoisted the Maina Parijat flag. Xatradhikar of the Gomotha Mahora Xatra, Bholanath Goswami conducted the smriti tarpan, shradhanjali programme.
Nityananda Borah, former president of the Bhaskarjyoti Maina Parijat, ceremonially opened the main gate of the event venue while social worker Bhagirath Lahoti inaugurated the exhibition. Retired DEEO of Lakhimpur district, Kanakeswar Deka Rajkonwar inaugurated the main stage of the event. It was followed by a series of literary competitions, which was inaugurated by Lakhimpur Jila Maina Parijat adviser Bitu Kumar Goswami. Bhaskarjyoti Maina Parijat former president Tridib Dutta ceremonially lit the earthen lamp in the evening. Then a galaxy of writers, journalists, artistes were feted in the event. It was followed by the 'Mainar Mou-Mel' programme under the chairmanship of retired teacher Ratul Chandra Nath.
The Sunday agenda of the event kick-started with an open marathon race competition, followed by a series of sports competitions among the children, inaugurated by social activist Hemanta Sarmah. Lakhimpur PGT College lecturer Rupali Goswami inaugurated a series of district-level classical music competitions. In the evening, social worker Amulya Dolakashariya ceremonially lit the earthen lamp. A series of cultural and literary competitions among children will be held on Monday. On the other hand, cultural procesion and open session will be held on Tuesday, wherein a host of notable figures in various fields of the State will take part.
