Conference of Assam Police Officer-In-Charge of all Police Stations held at Kalakshetra

GUWAHATI: A conference of Assam Police Officer-In-Charge of all police stations has been held at Srimanta Sankardev Kalakshetra on Monday. The event was held under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma.

The event was titled 'Redefining policing standards in Assam' and was attended by the Assam Police top brass and OCs of the police station.

While directing the officials, CM Sarma expressed on working on the standards of overall policing. He gave clear guidelines to the officials to clean their spaces of all criminal activities that happen as a result of the station's consent or under the directions of seniors.

He said that the officers are under no compulsion to listen to anyone when it comes to cleaning their station area. Their primary task should be to file charge sheets of cases and take them to the level of conviction. They should try to ensure that there are no pending charge sheets. They should always be working on cases and deciding ways to lower criminal activities.

As per the CM, the number of cases discarded, the number of charge sheets documented, and the number of convictions ought to be the essential point of the station officials.

On June 26, the CM had appealed to police officers not to fall prey to temptation and render duty with honesty and bravery. Talking at a function organized at Dispur last Saturday to give up the arrangement letter to home watchman Borsing Bey, CM Sarma said that Bey is an example of trustworthiness and honesty. Sometime in the past, the home guards were utilized for 'assortment' by officials in some registration and nakas in the State. Gone are those days now. This administration will keep on perceiving genuineness and grit. At times officials succumb to allurement. All officials should avoid anything enticing. When there is solid administration, lower-rung authorities get the inspiration to work genuinely.
