Congress continues protest in Lakhimpur against Rahul Gandhi’s disqualification

LAKHIMPUR: Congress has been continuing its massive protest in Lakhimpur district against disqualification of Rahul Gandhi as Lok Sabha MP. In this connection, the Lakhimpur District Congress Committee (LDCC) took out a torchlight rally in North Lakhimpur town on Thursday evening, Led by Lakhimpur District Youth Congress president Mousum Lahon, the rally was taken out from Rajiv Bhavan and it ended at the same place after covering the entire town. During the rally, the Congress workers rent the air by shouting number of slogans in support of Rahul Gandhi, to slam BJP-led government at the Centre, to save Indian democracy and to make an end to the alleged fascist rule.

Regarding the issue, Mousum Lahon took a dig at the Union Government while leading the protest rally. “Disqualification of Rahul Gandhi as Lok Sabha MP is non-democratic. It is against the democratic values and principles,” Mousum Lahon said.

On the other hand, senior spokesman of LDCC, Prasanta Gogoi said, “BJP is afraid of the two questions raised by Rahul Gandhi. BJP-led government at the Centre must disclose who invested Rs. 20,000 crore in Gautam Adani’s company. Disqualification of Rahul Gandhi as Lok Sabha MP is a crystal clear evidence of tyranny in India. At present, citizen’s right to freedom of speech had been violated across the nation.

Taking part in the protest rally, LDCC president Gagan Chandra Borah also came down heavily against BJP-led government at the Centre regarding the issue. APCC general secretary Padma Loson Doley, Media Cell secretary Ratul Borah, LDCC general secretary (administrative) Gangajyoti Tayegam were among those who took part in the protest rally along with almost 500 Congress workers, Mahila Congress members, NSUI and Youth Congress activists.
