Congress Promises 50% Govt Job Reservation for Women in Assam

GUWAHATI: The Assam Congress led by the 'Mahajot' or grand alliance is leaving no stones unturned to come back to power.

On March 4, All India Mahila Congress president Sushmita Dev said that if the 'Mahajot' or grand alliance is voted to power in Assam, it will ensure 50 per cent reservation for women in government jobs.

Addressing a press conference, Sushmita Dev said that when a Congress-led grand alliance will form the government in Assam the first thing the government will do is that to implement a 50 per cent reservation for women.

Taking a jibe at the ruling Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) the Congress leader said that youths and women of Assam don't want charity in form of schemes of direct benefit transfer. What the people of Assam wants is job opportunities so that they could contribute to the economy of the state.

Earlier, in Guwahati, the Assam Congress in a press meet launched a registration drive of the Congress Party's Job Guarantee Programme.

Further as per the drive, the leader of the opposition party launched a website for the unemployed youths in the State.

Assam Congress also 'guaranteed' creation of a separate department for providing jobs to the unemployed youths and it will be called – Ministry of Jobs

The website has received a good response with more than 1000 youths registering themselves for jobs within a couple of hours of the launch.

The website also stated that- If registered with this Job Guarantee Registration Programme, the Congress government is guaranteeing it will get you a job on a priority basis. In a few weeks, Assam will have a Congress-led Mahajot government.

Congress is guaranteeing that it will create 1 lakh government jobs every year, which comes to 5 lakh government jobs in 5 years. Furthermore, it is guaranteeing the creation of 25 lakh private-sector jobs in 5 years.
